SPOILER SPECULATION: Could The Rhino Be A Replacement For The Kingpin In AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 As A Russian Mob Boss?

A great deal of villains will be showing up in Amazing Spider-Man 2. Rhino (Paul Giamatti) and Electro (Jamie Foxx) have been confirmed while a recent addition of Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper) could mean the Green Goblin might appear as well. While it's tempting to think that all these villains will be connected by the Sinister Six and Oscorp, it might not be the case.

We know that Oscorp will factor in with Osborn and also possibly Electro but an actual criminal could be the main villain of the film. The Rhino is best known as a buffoonish Soviet thug who robs banks but that will likely be slightly altered for the film. A recent image posted by director Marc Webb on Twitter gives us a clue to where they might be going with the Rhino. As the image shows a page full of Russian ring tattoos (for fingers) which could mean Rhino is a former convict (Whiplash in Iron Man 2) or apart of the Russian mafia. I'm going with the latter.

A possible replacement for The Kingpin? One of Spider-Man's biggest and well-known villains has been the Kingpin (Wilson Fisk) but since his rights (along with Daredevil) reverted back to Marvel he likely won't be apart of the Spidey franchise. Webb could include a new gangland boss of New York City in the place of Kingpin which seemingly could be The Rhino. Spidey's crime fighting has never actually had organized crime react to him in the films, besides a few run of the mill crooks.  It would be nice to see a villain that wasn't just a science experiment gone wrong for once. A bunch of side villains including Hammerhead and Tombstone that were straight up criminals could also be connected to the Rhino. The criminal aspect might also help backup rumblings that Felicity Jones might be playing cat bugler Black Cat. At least in the cartoon series Alistaire Smythe (who creates the Spider Slayer robots) works for The Kingpin, helping him take down Spider-Man. Smythe was included in the recent video game tie-in for the last film.

Chris Cooper Will Play Norman Osborn (Green Goblin) In AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

THR reports that Chris Cooper (American Beauty, Bourne Identity, The Town, Jarhead) will take the role of Oscorp founder Norman Osborn in Amazing Spider-Man 2. The character is best known as the identity of villain The Green Goblin, along with the father of Peter's best friend Harry (Dane DeHaan). Not to mention being yet another of Parker's tragic father figures.

We already know that Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Rhino (Paul Giamatti) will be in the film and it's starting to sound like the Sinister Six will be revealed in the sequel. Colm Feore and Felicity Jones recently joined the production it's likely they'v been hired for Daily Bugle roles J. Jonah Jameson and Betty Brant. However, it's very possible they could be taking a page from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4 script making them the Vulture and Black Cat.

BREAKING: Has Marvel Found Their Rocket Raccoon?

Apparently, official news concerning casting one of the key roles of Guardians of The Galaxy may be made today. LatinoReview has tweeted that Marvel has seemingly found an actor for the role and will likely be revealed by Marvel or a outlet sometime today. We already know that Chris Pratt (Zero Dark Thirty) is locked in for Peter Quill/Star-Lord while negations for Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) to play Drax are still ongoing. There have been some ideas of who Marvel has been considering but when the announcement is made/reported I'll update this page and include a new one.

There had been talk that Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey were being looked at for the roles in the film which was assumed could be Groot or Rocket. However, creative consultant on the film Brain Michael Bendis got behind British action star Jason Statham. Even Michael Rooker put his name out there for a role when asked if he wanted to join the cast. Rooker has been apart of both Gunn's previous films Slither and Super.

You might have heard Rocket's voice on Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 or on Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes where he has a cockney accent. Combined with Statham's amazing action star status he could really give the character life with both his grizzled voice and agility/stunt/martial arts background for the motion capture side. I wouldn't rule out Rooker as could end up being a strong contender thanks for the ever growing fanbase of the Walking Dead.

James McAvoy The Newest Actor Being Looked At For THE CROW?

While there have been actors previously linked the role of Eric Draven in The Crow remake which includes Bradley Cooper and Mark Wahlberg they never panned out. BloodyDisgusting reports that British actor James McAvoy (Wanted, X-Men Fist Class) could help resurrect the film which has been loosing multiple directors. James has a slew of badass roles coming down the pipe with Welcome To The Punch, Trance and Filth. Along with X-Men Days of Future Past which combines both X-Men franchises.

Juliette Binoche In Talks For GODZILLA

Variety reports that French actress Juliette Binoche (Chocolat, The English Patient) is in talks for a role for Legendary Pictures' Godzilla reboot. The rest of the cast could include Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass), Bryan Cranston (Argo, Drive) and Elizabeth Olsen (who confirmed herself).

Seth Grahame-Smith Hired To Polish FANTASTIC FOUR Script, Will The Kree And Skrulls Be Involved?

THR reports that author turned screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Dark Shadows) will polish Jeremy Slater's Fantastic Four script. It sounds like Fox is really putting the project in high-gear as Matthew Vaughn (X-Men First Class, Kick-Ass) was recently hired to produce the reboot with Josh Trank (Chronicle) set to direct.

Oddly, enough they also mention that it's possible that aliens such as the Kree, Skrulls and even characters from the Negative Zone (Blastaar and Annihilus) could be apart of the new franchise. The first two might not even be allowed to be featured in the film because Fox might not own the rights to them. While it was revealed that Fox owns the Super Skrull it was never mentioned they also owned the Kree or could use the entire Skrull race. It will be interesting to see if Marvel has agreed to share the rights with Fox or if the studio has bought them. You might remember that Marvel and Fox also share characters such as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.

Noomi Rapace Says PROMETHEUS 2 (PARADISE) Is Currently Being Scripted, Is Jon Spaihts Back As Screenwriter?

There was a lot of talk of a sequel to Prometheus being in development after it's release, as the ending was a bit of cliffhanger leading to a second film. To be fair Ridley Scott and writer Jon Spaiths actually outlined two films originally, more than a year before Scott signed-on to direct. So the people involved with the original film have an idea of where the sequel is going.

During an interview with ThePlaylist actress Noomi Rapace revealed meeting and speaking with Ridley Scott recently about the sequel. She doesn't mention too much but the project is currently in script phase and the creatives are still putting together the story. Likely, referring to screenwriter Jon Spaihts and Ridley Scott as Damon Lindelof (who only added terrible rewrites) will be focusing on Tomorrowland and Star Trek 3. However, the studio hasn't announced anyone is actually writing the script. It's possible Spaihts is has been quietly re-working old Alien: Origins scripts to meet the needs of Ridley. I would assume that this script could be further along than the Blade Runner 2 script. It also sounds like Ridley Scott is keen to return as it's director.

"They're working on the script. I met Ridley in London a couple of weeks ago. I would love to work with him again and I know that he would like to do another one. It's just like we need to find the right story. I hope we will."

Niels Arden Oplev Attached To Direct FLATLINERS Remake

BloodyDisgusting is reporting that Danish director Niels Arden Oplev (Dead Man Down, Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) is attached to direct the Flatliners remake for Columbia/Sony. It will be written by Ben Ripley best known for Duncan Jones' Source Code. The original film was a stellar thriller and is considered one of the better Joel Schumacher films like The Lost Boys. Flatliners focuses on a group of young med students looking to experience being revived from death with supernatural consequences.

Could Alfonso CuarĂ³n Direct STAR WARS EPISODE VIII?

MarketSaw has been one of the only non-trades on the pulse of the new Star Wars trilogy. They were the first ones to actually announce the new trilogy back in 2009 and took it on the chin because LucasFilm didn't confirm the news for ages. They also revealed the directors list for Episode VII which included runner-up Matthew Vaughn who was confirmed to have pitched to LucasFilm. Another name on that list was Alfonso CuarĂ³n. The site is reporting that Alfonso is now lining-up to direct Episode VIII, Episode IX or both. If true,  J.J. Abrams might only be around for Episode VII.

The director is best known for the dystopian thriller Children of Men and his much more mature Harry Potter installment The Prisoner of Azkaban. His anticipated sci-fi thriller Gravity starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney will finally be released later this year. Alfonso CuarĂ³n was reported back in September to be working with J.J. Abrams on an untitled supernatural/superpower series for NBC, which Alfonso would co-write/direct the pilot. It's very likely the relationship with Abrams has grown since along with the fact that CuarĂ³n had been on LucasFilms' radar. We should keep in mind that three different directors made the original trilogy. It could be the studio is also aiming for a darker film with Episode VIII similar to Empire Strikes Back. Having CuarĂ³n directing could find the right amount of darkness for a PG-13 film.

SPECULATION: Could Joseph Gordon-Levitt Still Be In The Mix For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY?

During the Oscars MTV caught up with Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Looper, Inception, Dark Knight Rises) on the red carpet and revealed he's completed shooting for Sin City A Dame To Kill For. The actor had been in the mix for Guardians of The Galaxy but Chris Pratt ultmately landed the role of Peter Quill/Star-Lord. There was talks that his involvement with Sin City 2 would axed his chances to be apart of the Marvel project, that doesn't seem the case.

"Yeah, we shot it already. It went so great. Robert Rodriguez is just a delightful human being. He's got so much creativity pouring out of him. He's got a painting studio set up next to where we shoot so that when there's downtime he encourages people to just go paint. How cool is that? So cool."

While there have been rumblings of actresses testing for Gamora along with actors such as Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey and Jason Momoa linked for supporting roles. Two other possible in camera male roles that are still up for grabs might include Adam Warlock and Nova. These characters have been rumored for months and do play large roles in the cosmic stories and could spawn their own franchises.

WEAK RUMOR ALERT: Paul Rudd Joining The Marvel Universe?

A really weak assumption is being paraded as a "rumor" concerning a possible casting addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. AssociatedPress/NewTimes (via CBM) says that Rudd was joking around with the Avengers cast and was told by an Oscar organizer that "You look like one".  Apparently, this combined with a couple of tweets from Ant-Man writer/director Edgar Wright that focused on Rudd is sparking speculation.

I don't doubt that Paul Rudd is on some sort of radar but he's a really lousy lead actor in my opinion. His recent group of lukewarm comedies such as Dinner For Schmucks, I Love You Man, This Is 40 and Role Models doesn't inspire confidence in this being legit casting. However, Wright is known for odd casting choices hiring the ever wooden Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) for a supporting role in Scott Pilgrim.

On the other hand there are many other strong candidates to consider. One being Rafe Spall (Shaun of The Dead, Hot Fuzz) who has worked on many occasions with Wright and is prime to become another franchise actor being developed by Marvel (similar to Chris Hemsworth and now Chris Pratt). After a supporting role in Oscar winner Life of Pi and a small part in Prometheus. He also has I Give It A Year coming out soon which will hopefully give him more of an international awareness. Oscar nominated actor Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook, Place Beyond The Pines) and Joel Edgerton (Warrior, Zero Dark Thirty) have been previously linked to the film. Joel also being in the mix for Guardians of The Galaxy.

Considering the level of acting talent rumored to be linked, Rudd in my opinion would be better suited for a supporting role. I'm leaning towards Scott Lang rather than Hank Pym if it's an actual lead role. Lang ends up stealing the Ant-Man after being blackmailed and eventually partners with Pym. I wouldn't rule out Paul playing a villain either as Simon Pegg might end up being called up for Star Wars. Pegg had voiced a desire to play a baddie in Ant-Man. Even if recent casting of Park And Recs actor Chris Pratt for the Guardians of The Galaxy lead had Marvel hiring a comedian for an adventure film. Pratt had some decent Oscar connections with films Moneyball and Zero Dark Thirty to back up his abilities to handle other genres than comedy. Paul on the other hand isn't on that level and if anything would be comedic relief.

When it comes to the role of Janet (Wasp) I've finally come around to the fact that Alison Brie needs to be in that role. Alison was linked as a contender for Captain America: The Winter Soldier but was more likely being tested for another role in the MCU. A steady stream of actresses were linked for Sharon Carter but could have also been tested for multiple female leads such as Gamora for Guardians and Wasp (Anna Kendrick and Mary Elizabeth Winstead could also be strong contenders) for Ant-Man. The latter I think is where Brie fits in, as Janet is known for being as fast talking and as whitty if not more than Tony Stark. Her rapid-fire delivery on Community along with her dramatic side in Mad Men could see the actress in a similar spot as her Five-Year Engagement co-star Chris Pratt.

RUMOR: Did Drew Krapyshyn Write A Script For A KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC Film?

AICN has posted an interesting new Star Wars rumor that could get a lot of fans backing this next possible film. The site first mentions that many ideas and possible films are being thrown around at the offices of LucasFilm. Likely, pertaining to recent comments that while spin-offs such as Boba Fett, Yoda and Han Solo are still on the table they haven't been moved any further than just talk. However, this new rumor could be a little more tangible if true.

The rumor is that Drew Karpyshyn might be or has penned a Knights of The Old Republic script for LucasFilm. He's best known for helping develop video games such as Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Knights of The Old Republic and The Old Republic. Not to mention writing expanded universe novels for both Mass Effect and Star Wars. Drew recently left game developer BioWare last year to focus on screenwriting. Apparently, the rumor circling the BioWare office is that Drew is working on script for The Old Republic. Nothing confirmed, but fans expecting something new and not connected to the original trilogy will be happy if this happens.

If a script does in fact exist there is a chance that this could be the project Zack Snyder was pitching to LucasFilm. This is my speculation but if true this could allow Snyder his own Star Wars trilogy focusing on The Old Republic era. Giving both LucasFilm and Snyder the freedom to create a whole new Star Wars franchise. While also continuing the Skywalker adventures with J.J. Abrams handling Episodes VII, VIII, IX and beyond.

Above is the Galactic Timeline Records from the Old Republic game just so you have an idea of how in-depth the mythology is.

Joe Carnahan Won't Direct DEATH WISH Remake But Bruce Willis Could Star

Deadline reports that director Joe Carnahan has exited the Death Wish remake setup at MGM/Paramount. It's seemingly over casting, as Joe was set on Frank Grillo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Warrior, The Grey) for the lead role while the studio wants Bruce Willis instead. They mention that Carnahan is looking at another project titled Narco Sub but it's likely that his next film could be Nemesis for Fox which is based on the Mark Millar (Kick-Ass) comic book. Joe is currently writing the script for Nemesis with his brother.

Willis is coming off buzz from last year's Looper along with international success from Expendables 2 and A Good Day To Die Hard. It's understandable that the studio would be looking at a bigger name like Bruce with two other big films such as G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Red 2 still to be released this year. The former being a giant Paramount tentpole release. Grillo on the other hand is about to explode and will get a great deal of exposure from his villain role in Winter Soldier.
