Deadline reports that Daniel Craig has officially signed on to play Mikael Blomkvist in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Craig would most likely be also committed to the next two sequels which are rumored to be shooting back to back. The coolest aspect is the talk that Craig is working on his Swedish accent as the film will be shooting in Sweden where the novels are set. It's unknown if Lisbeth will also be Swedish but it sounds like David Fincher knows what he's doing with the film.
ComingSoon was able to get a hold of this bit of promo artwork for Legendary Pictures reboot of the iconic Godzilla series. What I love about this image is that they're not going for complete overall of the big guy like in the 1998 film. They're being sort of faithful to the original look of Godzilla.

Yet another Marvel tidbit comes out of Comic-Con courtesy of ComicBookMovie. They were able to get confirmation of sorts from director Joe Johnston that Namor McKenzie will be in Captain America. He reiterates his previous reveal to CHUD that the Invaders will appear which Namor is member of.
Brent Sprecher: Are we going to get to see The Invaders?
Joe Johnston: Oh, yeah!
Brent Sprecher: Namor. Is he going to have little wings on his feet?
Joe Johnston: Ah, no.
Variety reports that Warner Bros has obtained the rights to the Dan Dare film which includes Sam Worthington attached in the lead role. Dare is very similar to science fiction heroes like Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers but is British.
Kevin Feige talked to IGN confirming yet again that we'll be seeing Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Iron Fist films.
"What happens after Avengers is what's being discussed now. Obviously, you've heard about Doctor Strange. I've been a vocal fan of Strange for a long time. Black Panther, I think, I mentioned recently. Fraction and Brubaker's reinvention of Iron Fist has gotten me excited to do some version of that in our world."
Micheal Parks is the first actor to be cast in Kevin Smith's horror film Red State. Parks is best known for his iconic role as Sheriff Earl "Quick Draw" McGraw in Dusk Til' Dawn, Kill Bill Vol.1 and Planet Terror. I'm beyond interested to see Smith move away from his comfort zone of making comedies.
With David Fincher locked in to direct and Daniel Craig starring as the film's male lead. It seems like the real hunt is for the perfect Lisbeth. We've previously heard actresses such as Carey Mulligan, Ellen Page and Mia Wasikowska have been in talks.
Now Deadline reports that Sony is looking at Emily Browning (Sucker Punch), Rooney Mara (Social Network) and French actress Lea Seydoux (Inglourious Basterds, Robin Hood) according to Showbiz411 are the newest candidates.
It looks like the previous rumor of Frank Castle being included in upcoming Marvel Studios films could be true. Kevin Feige during the Marvel Comic-Con pannel confirms the studio has regained control of Punisher and hopes to include him in their film universe soon. Lionsgate held the rights to anti-hero for the last two movies. Previously it had been rumored that Frank could make an appearance in Avengers or the S.H.I.E.L.D. film. After three failed solo films I think it would be interesting to see Castle included as a supporting character in other Marvel films.
Most recently Ray Stevenson had played the role but has taken up another character in Thor so it's expected Castle will be recast. My vote goes to Jon Hamm (Mad Men, The Town, Sucker Punch) to take on the role.

Karl Urban (Star Trek, LOTR) has confirmed to Collider he's been in talks with Judge Dredd director Pete Travis for the lead role. The reboot is being produced by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting) and was written by Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Sunshine, Beach, Never Let Me Go)
“I’ve met with Pete Travis, Andrew McDonald and we’ve had a really wonderful meeting of the minds and long story short, they have offered me the role and we’re in the process of making that happen.”
“To have the opportunity to play such an iconic and enigmatic character as Joe Dredd is a phenomenal opportunity and I’m really thrilled and looking forward to getting into it.”
ThePlaylist reports that Fox is already on the hunt for a director for Wolverine 2 since X-Men First Class is setup. They name directors like Kathryn Bigelow (Hurt Locker, Point Break), Tony Scott (True Romance, Last Boy Scout) and Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In) being in talks with the studio. I'd love to see Bigelow take on a comicbook film but it seems like she would be too busy with other projects.
Joss Whedon has officially been announced as the director of the Avengers. He gave OnTheRedCarpet the exclusive confirmation that Jeremy Renner has been cast as Hawkeye. In other Avengers casting news Mark Ruffalo has apparently signed on to play Bruce Banner and it will be announced at Comic-Con.
UPDATE: Mark Ruffalo is the new Bruce Banner as he has taken the stage with the rest of the cast of Avengers along with Jeremy Renner.

Now that it seems Zack Snyder is pretty much close to finishing both Sucker Punch and Guardians. It looks like he's starting prep for his next project Xerxes which is the prequel to 300. Snyder confirmed to the LA Times that he's writing the film but hasn't confirmed if he'll direct.
"We closed the writing deal on Xerxes. We started writing about a week ago. So we’re doing it. It’s happening."

The newest rumor coming from IMDB is that Anton Yelchin is playing the new Harry Osborn in the Spider-Man reboot. Since Andrew Garfield has been cast it's possible they're moving forward with the rest of casting.
CHUD is reporting that an offer has gone out to Joaquin Phoenix replacing Edward Norton as Bruce Banner in Avengers.
"Reliable sources tell me that Marvel has already put out an offer, and the actor they've spoken to is Joaquin Phoenix, believe it or not. Phoenix is taking time to mull over the offer and the bigger implications - Marvel may yet resurrect the Hulk franchise - but Marvel hopes to have him in place by Comic Con, which is when they want to announce their new Bruce Banner."
It looks like the casting for X-Men Fist Class is speeding up. Previously James McAvoy, Alice Eve and Michael Fassbender have been cast in the film. In the last couple of days there has been flood of news.
Nicolas Hoult is the new Hank McCoy (Beast) which was confirmed by Deadline.
