REVIEW: Machete

Ever since the release of Grindhouse people had been clamoring for a full length version of the faux trailer Machete. Robert Rodriguez had been slowly working on the film's script ever since Desperado. He even started borrowing from it when it was time to make Once Upon Time In Mexico. Now it's finally been released and was it worth the wait?

The film is another homage to the exploitation genre it's casting was bang on and even the cameos were entertaining. I believe I might enjoy it more on the second viewing but the theater experience was great. I felt some of scenes did drag on and there was bit too much tough talk/posturing from Michelle Rodriguez and Jessica Alba. Yet it was nice to see Alba back in kick-ass mode. As usual Robert is imaginative when it comes to how people die or the weapons they die by. It was beyond fun and there were enough what-the fuck moments to earn it's awesome status. Even if the sequels are direct-to-DVD I'm on board with this franchise in the making. I'm praying they make Machete In Space but it's a long shot.
