There's a rumor that Guy Ritchie will be directing a remake of the musical. It will star Jason Statham and has been described as a mix between Bullitt and Worzel Gummidge. Since the story comes from the Sun and hasn't been announced officially it's only gossip at this point. That being said any film that's being compared to Bullitt is fine in my opinion, musical or otherwise. The original film focused on a gambler who is challenged to take a cold female missionary to Havana, but the bet has a hidden motive to finance a crap game. Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra starred in the 1955 version.
CASTING THOUGHTS:
Gerard Butler and Robert Downey Jr. have both worked with Ritchie and could also be cast. Butler starred in the most recent version of Phantom of The Opera so he has a good chance.
