Tarantino's Faster, Pussy Cat! Kill! Kill!

Tarantino's next dream project after he completes both parts of "Inglorious Bastards" will be a remake of the Russ Meyer's 1965 camp classic. Death Proof his previous film had borrowed from the film, but didn't include the original plot and characters. It was more of a nod than a homage which the new project will be. Rumored to be involved in the movie is playboy bunny/porn starlet Tera Patrick and Eva Mendes (The Spirit). In a previous interview Tarantino mentioned that he would look to also have Britney Spears and Kim Kardashian. I hope this was his attempt at humor or they would just have cameos. I've been a huge fan of the Meyer's films and I think it's about time someone made another sexy camp exploitation film.

"Three strippers seeking thrills encounter a young couple in the desert. After dispatching the boyfriend, they take the girl hostage and begin scheming on a crippled old man living with his two sons in the desert, reputedly hiding a tidy sum of cash. They become houseguests of the old man and try and seduce the sons in an attempt to locate the money, not realizing that the old man has a few sinister intentions of his own."

The Thing

The Thing (TBA)

Stated as "a loving sequel" rather than a remake this new Thing sounds like it could be very good. With the people that are involved and care taken to come out with something great instead of a lackluster knockoff. The first film ended with two surviving characters freezing to death while all their power generators (source of heat) were blown up and the research station burning to the ground. The new film could focus on a rescue team who go in to see what happened to the research teams both Norwegians and Americans. Discovering the horrible aftermath and what was the reason why they stopped radio contact. Having a Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica) written script may influence a big name director and cast to get involved.

"After a long period of rumors, Variety reports that Universal is definitely going ahead with a remake of John Carpenter's 1982 classic THE THING (itself a reimagining, of course, of the 1951 THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD). Marc Abraham and Eric Newman of Strike Entertainment, which previously teamed with Universal on the DAWN OF THE DEAD update, will produce, and David Foster (a veteran of the '82 THING who also worked on the misbegotten remake of Carpenter's THE FOG) will executive-produce. Ronald D. Moore, a veteran of such TV science-fiction fare as the new BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, CARNIVÁLE, ROSWELL and assorted STAR TREKs, will script the new THING, which is said to be "a companion piece" to its predecessor rather than a straight retelling of its story. A director and start date have yet to be announced."

Ronin

Ronin (2009)

"Ronin tells the tale of a dishonored 13th-century samurai who is reborn in a corrupt and computerized 21st century New York with one last chance for redemption. His quest takes him through the violent Manhattan netherworld, and brings him face-to-face with passion, betrayal, murder... and the reincarnation of his sworn enemy, the ancient demon Agat. On a bleak and decaying battleground, the two foes wage a final war: to settle past debts, and for the soul of a dying civilization." Sylvain White (Stomp The Yard) has officially been selected to direct the film based on Frank Miller's limited comic series.

The Long Good Friday

The Long Good Friday (2009)

Paul W.S. Anderson is getting a great response from his re-imagining/remake of "Death Race 2000". So content with his remaking abilities he's developed an American version of the British gangster classic "The Long Good Friday". The original followed a group of London mobsters who are trying to start a business with the American Mafia. While this is going on theres a sub-plot involving the IRA murdering top men in the London organization. After it was double crossed by the London crew. The new movie will be set in America and will most likely be another hard R film for Anderson. I know a lot of people dislike Anderson's movies but he does justice to the restricted genre films. "Event Horizon" has to be on the list of scariest science fiction films, so love him or hate him he is creative as hell.

Kane & Lynch

Kane & Lynch (2009)

Based on the video game "Kane & Lynch: Dead Men" the new ultra violent video game from the developers of "Hitman". It seems Simon Crane who worked as a second unit director and stunt coordinator on Hancock, Troy, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, X-Men 3 and The Surrogates will be helming the project. Crane will be directing his first feature with "Kane & Lynch". Bruce Willis is in talks to play Kane and the studio is currently seeking out an actor to play Lynch. I think the only way to come out with a decent film out of this new video game geared to adults is a hard R movie. The tragedy that was "Hitman" was the studio trying to reach out to an younger movie goer with it's PG-13 rating, along with it's unrealistic plot holes and goofy logos on weapons. This time around there isn't much goofy little details that could drag this film down. Besides dulling down it's violence and grittiness to reach a safe PG-13.

"Kane is an ex-mercenary on his way to death row. His last job was a disaster that saw his team getting (persumably) killed while he ran off with a fortune in diamonds and was soon caught by the authorities. Suddenly, his prison bus crashes, a massive shootout begins between the guards and the escaping convicts, and he is helped to his feet by Lynch. The look in Lynch's eyes and the sadistic smile on his face tell Kane that he is not a friend and this is not a rescue: it's a kidnapping. The crash is quickly revealed to have been a clever ambush. The surviving members of Kane's old team have caught up with him. In the aftermath of the shootout with the guards, they offer both men a deal: Kane and Lynch must team up and recover the fortune that Kane stole. If Kane accepts the deal, he will still die for his treason but his wife and daughter will be spared. If the demented and schizophrenic Lynch agrees to watch over Kane on behalf of the organization, he gets Kane's old job in their ranks. "

Billy Batson and the Legend of Shazam

Billy Batson & The Legend of Shazam (2009)

After the success of Iron Man it would make sense that lesser known comic characters from DC would also get their own movies. Peter Segal (Get Smart) will be directing the project, which it's title is in need of change to a shorter one."The immortal wizard Shazam, who dwells in the Rock of Eternity, seeks a champion to fight for the cause of truth and justice. He finds Billy Batson, a young orphan who was thrown out by a cruel and uncaring uncle. Despite the hardship he has faced in his life, Billy's spirit has not succumbed to evil. Shazam sends an emissary to lead him to the Rock, where he explains to Billy what he has been chosen for. Imbuing him with the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury, Billy Batson becomes Captain Marvel by speaking the name of the wizard: Shazam!"

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is rumored to be playing the villain Black Adam. He has the same type of powers as Captain Marvel but uses them to brutalize and murder.

Jonny Quest

Jonny Quest (2010)

"Dr. Benton Quest is a research scientist who is frequently called upon for missions that require his scientific and technical expertise. He is usually accompanied by his son Jonny, his tutor/bodyguard Race Bannon, their bulldog with the distinctive mask-like eye markings named Bandit, and Hadji, an Indian orphan who has special abilities of his own. Together, they investigate mysteries, perform rescues and battle nefarious villains around the world, most notably Dr. Zin."

Peter Segal (Get Smart) has had an interest in the script and might direct the project. Segal believes Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson would be perfect for the role of Race Bannon. The Quest family was always my favourite of the Hannah-Barbera cartoons growing up. I thought it would have been made before the Flintstones or Scooby-Doo since it has more of a bigger than life movie feel to it.

John Carpenter's L.A. Gothic

L.A. Gothic (2008)

Seven years since his last film John Carpenter is back with another horror genre movie."Five combined stories of horror centering on a vengeful ex-priest's efforts to protect his teenage daughter from the supernatural evils of L.A.'s dark side."

Frankie Machine (2010)

"An ex mob hit man (De Niro) living in rural comfort is lured back into his former profession by the scheming son of a Mafia Don." Michael Mann and Robert De Niro work together yet again the last time creating one of Hollywood's greatest crime dramas ever "Heat".
